MOLDE

Molde is a city with 25000 inhabitents and a municipality in the Romsdal More og Romsdal. The municipality borders in the west to Aukra, in the north to Fræna and Gjemnes and in the east to Nesset. South of Long Fjord in the east, Rauma, south of Molde Fjord is Vestnes, and west of Julsundet is Midsund municipality.

The name is believed to come from a Norse farm name, Mold, a plural form of the mold. Coat of arms, a whale chasing herring into a barrel, alludes to the original sources of income - the export of herring and timber.
